PTI Senator Ejaz Chaudhry Seeks Court Intervention for Senate Session Attendance

Senator Ejaz Chaudhry, representing Punjab in the Senate and a member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has filed a petition with the Islamabad High Court (IHC). He is seeking a production order from the Senate chairman, which would allow him to participate in the ongoing Senate session. Senator Ejaz is currently incarcerated at Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore, in connection with a case related to the May 9 violence.

In his petition to the IHC, Senator Ejaz Chaudhry underlined the constitutional violation involved in preventing a Senate member from joining the sessions. He emphasized the critical role he plays in ensuring the comprehensive representation of Punjab in the Senate.

The respondents in Senator Ejaz’s petition include the Senate chairman, Senate secretary, Cabinet Division secretary, interior secretary, Punjab chief secretary, and Kot Lakhpat Jail superintendent. He is urging the court to direct the Senate chairman to issue his production order and instruct the other respondents to make the necessary arrangements for his future participation in Senate sessions.
